-
- We hope to have MacApp 2.0B9 available from APDA by the Developer's Conference
- in early May. Because of the time it takes to get disks, manuals and packaging
- together, no further substantive changes can be made to release 2.0B9.
- Moreover, we want to assure developers that once they modify their 2.0B5 code
- to be compatible with 2.0B9, they will not need to make further changes. So
- the only changes between B9 and final will be to fix any serious bugs that crop
- up.
-
- The recent debate on locking brings up a number of complex issues which deserve
- more discussion. Should the mechanism guarantee survivability across an
- exception which causes the stack to be unwound? How much should it be used,
- and for what? What overhead is acceptable?
-
- So let the debate continue.
